Dispute Resolution & Mediation
Independent support for Scout volunteers navigating conflicts, disputes, and suspension processes.

Conflicts and disputes can arise in any volunteering environment. When they do, volunteers deserve access to independent, impartial support to help them navigate these challenging situations.
IYVS provides confidential dispute resolution and mediation services specifically designed for Scout volunteers. Whether you're experiencing interpersonal conflicts, facing formal complaints, or involved in suspension processes, we're here to support you.
Independent Mediation
Our trained mediators provide neutral, confidential facilitation to help parties in conflict find constructive resolutions. We create safe spaces for dialogue, help clarify misunderstandings, and support volunteers in reaching mutually acceptable outcomes. Our mediation services are completely independent of Scouting organisations.
Dispute Management Support
Navigating disputes within volunteer settings can be complex and stressful. We provide practical guidance on understanding your rights, interpreting policies and procedures, preparing for meetings, and communicating effectively during conflict situations. Our support helps you approach disputes with clarity and confidence.
Suspension Process Support
Being suspended from volunteering can be an isolating and distressing experience. We offer confidential support for volunteers involved in Scouts suspension processes, helping you understand the procedures, prepare your response, and access appropriate advocacy. You don't have to navigate this alone.
Community Mediation
Group dynamics can sometimes break down, affecting the wellbeing of volunteers and young people. Our community mediation services work with Scout groups, sections, and leadership teams to rebuild trust, improve communication, and create healthier volunteering environments for everyone involved.
Preventative Guidance
Not all conflicts need formal intervention. We provide early-stage guidance to help volunteers address emerging tensions before they escalate. Our resources cover effective communication strategies, boundary setting, and constructive approaches to resolving minor disagreements in volunteer settings.
Our Approach
Independent & Impartial
We operate completely independently from Scouting organisations. Our loyalty is to the wellbeing and fair treatment of volunteers, ensuring you receive unbiased support throughout any dispute process.
Confidential & Safe
All conversations with IYVS are treated with strict confidentiality. We create safe, non-judgmental spaces where volunteers can speak openly about their concerns without fear of repercussions.
Trained & Experienced
Our mediators and support staff are trained in conflict resolution, mediation techniques, and understand the unique dynamics of youth volunteering environments. We bring both professional expertise and lived experience.
Volunteer-Centred
Your wellbeing, dignity, and rights are at the heart of everything we do. We work at your pace, respect your decisions, and ensure you feel heard and supported throughout the process.
